Description
TimeDistanceCalculation.com offers several data sets of Western European countries. The data set for Postal Codes in France is updated annually and is optimized for use in SQL databases. If desired, the data set can first be pre-processed in Excel.
We offer our data lists as CSV or XLS files. These file formats can be imported directly into an SQL database. These data lists can also be viewed and pre-processed in Excel. Some records have more than 1 million records. These are then too large for use in Excel. Software like CSVEasy may be required to process such large files.
Postcodes were introduced in France in 1964. French postal codes consist exclusively of five-digit numbers. The number series are arranged regionally. The first 2 digits indicate the department. In big cities like Paris, Lyon and Marseille, the last two digits indicate the arrondissement. The French Post Office handles postal services and the French postal code system is also used.
CEDEX is an acronym for Courrier d’Entreprise à Distribution EXceptionnelle. This is a service for professional recipients of large volumes of mail, such as companies, governments, associations and the like. You have your own postal code combination. The Cedex system thus offers these professional parties preferential treatment of their mail.
